”There is nothing faster than a toddler that being asked what she had had in her mouth”. This quote made me laugh so hard until I had my first daughter and I can now relate so much with these words. Literally she chewed, bitten and tasted everything that she could have access to. So, I had to be creative and find solutions to let her have a messy play in order to develop her sensorial abilities.
PS Right now she is next to me chewing some boiled spaghetti stolen while granny is preparing diner:)
I looked, I tried and finally after few trials and errors I made the best edible play-dough for her.
What do you need:
- baby rice cereals powder ( i used snappy rice cereals and I powdered them using a baby blender)
- baby fruit puree (i used Ella’s kitchen strawberry pouch.) I used this for colour and scent purpose. You can use any fruit juice you want or you have in the cupboard. It also helps with consistency as well.
- one cup of flour ( you can use any flour that you would like, I used plain white flour)
- warm water and a tablespoon of olive oil
How to make it
- Mix the solids first: flour with rice powder with a fork until they are homogenized.
- Add the oil and the fruit puree.
- Mix it using an electric mixer or your bare hands.
- Add water and flour until you reach the right consistency. If it is sticky add more flour is too dry add a bit of warm water.
- Now that the dough is smooth and malleable, take it out of the bowl and knead by hand until you decide is the right texture for you.
- You can store it in a zip lock bag or airtight container in the fridge. And before you pass it to the baby make sure you kneading in hands until is warm and soften.
