Congratulations, you’ve made it to the next stage of your baby’s sleep journey! By now, your little one is likely ready to transition from two naps to one, or even to no nap at all. This can be a big change, but with some patience and a little bit of guidance, your baby will soon be sleeping like a champ.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Night-time sleep: At this age, your baby will need around 11.5 hours of night-time sleep. Encourage them to establish a consistent bedtime routine, and make sure their sleep environment is comfortable and conducive to rest. If your baby is still waking in the middle of the night, offer comfort and reassurance, but try to avoid feeding or playing with them as this can disrupt their sleep patterns.
  • Daytime sleep: Your baby will still need around 2.5 hours of daytime sleep, but now spread across one or two naps. If your baby is taking two naps, aim for one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If they are taking one nap, make it a consistent part of their daily routine. Make sure your baby’s naps are in a quiet, dark and comfortable environment to promote good sleep habits.
  • Nap length: Naps for babies at this age should last between 1-2.5 hours. If your baby is having trouble napping or is waking too early, try adjusting their wake windows (4-6 hours) to see if that helps.
  • Wake windows: It’s important to keep your baby’s wake windows consistent, with periods of activity in between naps. This can help to keep your baby’s sleep schedule on track and prevent over-tiredness.

This stage can be a big change for your baby, but with patience and consistency, they will soon be sleeping through the night and taking one or two restful naps each day. Happy sleeping!”
